Effects of stellate stimulation and hypoxia on haemodynamics and coronary circulation.

چکیده
Authors' synopsis The efsects of left stellate ganglion stimulation on haemodynamics and coronary blood flow were studied in dogs, and compared bcirh hypoxia produced by arterial anoxia. Both left stellate stimulation and hypoxia resulted in an increase in coronary blood , f l o ~ , and myocardial oxygen consumption, but the increment in coronary blood flow iz'as much more pronounced during hypoxia. Coronary resistance was signijicantly reduced during hypoxia but not altered during left stellate stimulation. This suggests an inadequate coronary iiasodilator response during lejt stellate stimulation, probably secojidary to a tiasoronstrictor effect of' the sympathetic neroes. This i3asoconstrictor efiect interferes with maximum vasodilatory response to hypoxia that is induced by sympathetic stinrulation.

Effects of unilateral stellate ganglion stimulation and ablation on electrophysiologic changes induced by acute myocardial ischemia in dogs.
We recorded direct-current extracellular electrograms simultaneously from 60 left ventricular epicardial sites in 38 alpha-chloralose-anesthetized dogs during repeated, 5 min coronary arterial occlusions. In each dog recordings made during control occlusions were compared with those made in occlusions after, or during, the following interventions on the sympathetic nervous system: left stellate...
متن کاملHeterogeneous microvascular coronary alpha-adrenergic vasoconstriction.
We tested the hypothesis that humoral or neurogenic alpha-adrenergic activation in the coronary circulation would produce heterogeneous vascular reactions. To accomplish this, the epicardial coronary microcirculation was viewed through an intravital microscope using stroboscopic epi-illumination. Microvascular diameters were measured under control conditions during beta-adrenergic blockade (pro...
متن کاملSympathetic control of major coronary artery diameter in the dog.
The diameter of a major coronary artery, the ramus interventricularis ventralis (RIV), was measured in dogs with arrested hearts perfused by an extracorporeal circulation. The resting diastolic diameter was 1.78 +/- 0.07 mm (mean +/- SE) at a diastolic pressure of 74.2 +/- 3.4 mm Hg. Bilateral supramaximal stimulation of fibers leaving the cranial pole of the stellate ganglion decreased the dia...
متن کاملEffect of brief myocardial ischemia on sympathetic coronary vasoconstriction.
The purpose of the present study was to determine whether sympathetic coronary vasoconstrictor responses are altered after brief ischemia and reperfusion. Adult mongrel dogs were anesthetized and instrumented for measurements of heart rate, arterial pressure, left ventricular pressure, left ventricular dP/dt, anterior myocardial wall thickening, and left circumflex coronary artery (LCX) and lef...
متن کاملSympathetic control of coronary circulation.
The sympathetic control of left circumflex coronary blood flow was studied by stellate ganglion and hypothalamic stimulation. Flow was measured acutely in dogs under chloralose or pentobarbital anesthesia by an electromagnetic flowmeter. Coronary vasoconstriction was observed when the left stellate ganglion was stimulated after blocking beta receptors with propranolol or INPEA. The possibility ...
